After a ravingly 4 months long break, we finally got back to our familiar studio along with the background noises from the next door building works and the intolerable heat wave. Here we are, it is nice to be back.

Last night, when I was laying in my bed, a lot of thoughts were playing in my mind. As a designer, I think and conceptualise things a lot. The most difficult part is the create but not re-create matters. Human beings like myself, we are demanding, we want everything now. We want to experiences the world, have the lifestyles we crave, own the latest gadgets, feel and look 21 forever. At the same time, we seek purported security and stability. Societies enforce a lot of rules on us, also define successes in certain confined ways. Non wonder we suffer from stresses, anxiety and pressures.

In week 1 of the year 2 fabrication classes, I was informed that the paper explores a key quality in design, the nature of light. Light is life. Martin Luther King once said Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. It is possible to assert that nothing becomes evident or present without a light source whether it is an artificial or natural form. The light is one of the most important factors for fabrication.

We were supplied with a 5 mitre long pineclad timberwood to create a freestanding fixture. We have designed a geometrical matrix system. The concept and design was derived from human brain neutrons. During the fabrication, we have encountered a number of issues as expected. Nothing comes straight forward in life as always. We initially carefully drafted out our designs and measurements for each piece of timber stick. However, not only it was extraordinarily time consuming, but also restrited how we could experiment different shapes. Eventually we have haphazardly cut out all the timbers and just design the shape of the fixture as we assembled it. It was a lot of fun at the same time.
