According to Cambridge English dictionary, a threshold is a strip of wood or stone forming the bottom of a doorway and crossed in entering a house or room. It can be a doorway, gate

entrance, stairwell. extraordinary matters happen in between thresholds. For example, the tonal and com positional shifts, lighting and shadow change when enter from one threshold to the other. Today I constructed a stairwell design. The shape of the steps are inspired by Morandi's vases in his still-life paintings.

A perforated window system on either side of the stairwell are fabricated. Such a design allows north facing sun light to penetrate through, which creates interesting shadows throughout different times of the day.
