I have to be honest about this. I am a little reluctant when it comes to the uses of colours. Whether it is to do with my personal fashion style or interior decorating. When I was growing up, various influential people I have come crossed, including various famous fashion designers and my own Mother of course, said that there are a billions things can go wrong if don't use colours correctly. It is much safer to stay with neutral tones, like black white grey and beige. I don't think I am the only victim here. Just take a look around some of the open show homes in Auckland, everyone tends to paint the walls white (there are actually fifty shades of whites). What do they mean by using colours correctly? Who set the rules?

At the beginning of the new semester, we were introduced to a new Design Studio paper, we will study, research and explore everything about colours. It is quite exciting and new to me. I understand the fact that I am surrounded by colours in my life everyday, but I haven't been able to appreciate them. This is an excellent opportunity.

During the first week of term. We were requested to walk around the university block and captures images of colours and textures in order to produce an image of collages of chosen medias. I chose to use materials like sand, concrete, stones, acrylic paint and metallic particles to produce the painting. This is the very first time that I have done such an exercise. Here are what I have created. Enjoy!
